Malaysian Hayden Haikal will join reigning Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge team Sonic Motor Racing Services for his maiden campaign in Australia.
Haikal’s entry completes Sonic’s three car squad for 2026 as the Malaysian joins Ruairi Avern and Xavier Avramides to form a strong line-up for the team’s title defence.
Competing with support from Johor Motorsports Racing, Haikal has won six championships across Malaysia and Thailand in recent years, plus was named Malaysia’s ‘Driver of the Year’ and ‘Most Promising Athlete’ in 2024. These accolades led to JMR selecting Haikal as its first Junior Development driver.
The 21-year-old enters his second year as a JMR Junior and is excited to continue this journey racing in one of Australia’s toughest categories.
Haikal will make his Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at Phillip Island on March 27-29.
